University of WaterLoo Scholarships 2024/2025 for International Students

University of Waterloo Scholarships 2024: The University of Waterloo has established itself as one of the best universities in Canada, with a ranking of 5th in Canada and 85th globally.

It offers a wide range of Graduate Degree Programs, with 180+ available. The Scholarship is a financial aid program offered to graduate students who are enrolled full-time in an undergraduate program, MSc, or PhD program. Eligible applicants must have achieved a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 80% or higher in their current course of study or over the past two full academic years and must be within the eligible graduate program’s time limits.

The scholarship is typically awarded at a rate of one thousand dollars per term for a maximum of three terms. There is no requirement to apply, and graduate departments will automatically nominate eligible students based on their financial aid allocation.

Eligibility to Apply for University of Waterloo Scholarships

Here is the eligibility to apply to the University of Waterloo scholarship:

  • Results of the Euclid Math Contest (only math students are eligible)
  • If the initial admission rate in May is lower than the final admission rate, the corresponding President’s or Merit Scholarship will be awarded. Notification of the award will be given once the final grades are received in July.
  • The admission information form (AIF) can also be taken into account.
  • Your admission score will be based on the grades available at the start of May, using your top six Grade 12 courses or their equivalents, plus any courses you need for the program you applied for.
  • It is important to note that if an individual is offered admission to multiple programs, their admission average may not be sufficient to be eligible for a Presidential Scholarship or a Merit Scholarship in any given program, as the admission average must take into account the courses required in each program, which may differ from one program to another.

Scholarship Coverage

The University of Waterloo Scholarship provides the following benefits to the recipient:

  • The David Johnston-Lebovic Foundation International program awards will range from $2,500 to $5,000 for a one-term study program, and from $5,000 to $10,000 for a two-term employment or volunteer adventure.
  • The International Master’s Award of Excellence is worth $2,500 every term for a total of six periods.

Requirement for University of Waterloo Scholarships

Transcripts – you must submit your transcripts, it is mandatory for students who are not currently enrolled in a high school in Ontario, or if the admissions office so requests.

English language test results – If you don’t speak English as your first language or if the admissions office requests it, you may be required to provide English language scores.

Admission Information Form – Ensure that all pages have been completed prior to submission. Requiring an Associate in Financial Aid (AIF) is a requirement for admission to Engineering (except Architectural) and Mathematics faculties.

How to Apply to the University of Waterloo Scholarship

Scholarships are provided to students based on their academic and personal accomplishments, while bursaries are awarded based on their financial need. Generally, scholarships are awarded in the middle of May following the receipt of updated grades from Ontario secondary schools.

The details of the award will be recorded in the Waterloo Quest account as of mid-May. Once a student is enrolled at Waterloo, they may apply to a variety of bursaries and scholarships throughout their degree. How to Check Your Application Status for the University of Waterloo

You can check your application status via the information you used to register before.
